The National Museum of the Civil Air Patrol

CAP Historical Foundation was established in 1997 to preserve the history and promote the proud heritage of the Civil Air Patrol and WWII CAP Coastal Patrol. In 1998, it was incorporated in the State of Maryland as a non-profit charitable educational institution and was accepted by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 C (3) organization. Contribution to CAPHF are tax deductible.

15.	Preserved an entire CAP museum by cash acquisition (Hill Collection)
16.	Preserved valuable cache of CAP historical photography (Hopper Collection)
17.	Promoted official CAP policy on use of its history, images, symbols
18.	Promoted CAP policy on disposition of National Historian work product
19.	Set up fire-safe commercial archives for core CAP history, artifacts
20.	Evaluated some 20 sites for a future National Museum of the Civil Air Patrol
21.	Through CAPHF Photo Archive Project, preserved core historical photos on film and digital media (2002-2004)
22.	Through the Museum of the Civil Air Patrol on the Web, established a virtual museum to reach thousands more efficiently than a physical museum (2005)

Since 1997, We Have:
1.	Launched a unique concept to preserve and promote CAP history
2.	Chartered the official non-profit organization for CAP history
3.	Won official IRS 501c3 non-profit status. All donations tax-deductible
4.	Raised $25,000+ for CAP history
5.	Developed CAP history products for member/public education
6.	Put CAP history in the hands of 1,000+ members/veterans
7.	Preserved 2,200 copies of ³Maine to Mexico² by cash acquisition
8.	Designed, wrote and partially built exhibit for Air Force Museum
9.	Presented CAP history at Wing and Region conferences nationwide
10.	Raised recognition of CAP in aviation media (1990s)
11.	Collected/displayed six historic CAP aircraft (with Planes of History)
