1. From Maine to Mexico (Louis Keefer, 1997)
The most recent book on CAP Coastal Patrol. One
chapter for each of 21 Coastal Patrol bases “from Maine to Mexico.” Good photos. Personal accounts by the Subchasers themselves, as interviewed by Louis Keefer. At the end of every chapter: a list of Subchasers serving at that base for at least one month during the Coastal Patrol period.
Availability: CAP Historical Foundation offers this book as a premium for tax-deductible contributions to CAPHF. (See “Museum Store”) Small number available for sale by independent CAP historian Roger Theil, Washington D.C.
2. Flying Minutemen (Robert Neprud, 1948)
The immediate post-WWII story, engagingly told, of Coastal Patrol and other WWII CAP missions nationwide. Very good photos. A little over-promotional in retrospect, but the basic account of CAP in WWII.
Availability: Can be hard to find. Reprinted in soft cover by CAP HQ, now out of print. Recently put on CD by CAP historical interests.
3. The Hero Next Door (Frank A. Burnham, 1974)
